I first picked up a guitar over 40 years ago - and have been hooked ever since! 

I studied classical guitar in Manchester and I later played guitar, banjo and mandolin professionally full-time for14 years, making many television appearances, in UK and Europe, and also played as a session musician on live gigs and recordings. I owned and ran a commercial recording studio for many years and have worked on both sides of the microphone, in Holland and UK, as an engineer/producer. 

I have been enjoying teaching music for the past 30 years both privately and in Tertiary Colleges in the UK, as well as teaching English as a foreign language, and find the sharing of both my knowledge and my wealth of experience to be very worthwhile.  I feel a real satisfaction in helping others to learn and by carefully listening to and observing each individual student and gearing their tuition in response, I can help them achieve their musical goals.

Since moving to northern France in November 2008, I continue to enjoy working with music students, giving both private lessons and organising music weekends where musicians of differing abilities are given the opportunity to play together under professional guidance.

I am a Member of the Institute for Learning, hold recognised teaching qualifications, and I am listed with the Registry of Guitar Tutors. 

For the reassurance of parents I am UK Criminal Records Bureau checked (CRB), hold a full Disclosure certificate (Enhanced) and I am more than happy to have mum or dad along during lessons. 

I am happy to teach those of all ages, believing that you can start to play an instrument at any age, having  had students as young as 8 and as old as 78. 

Whether as a hobby or profession I really believe music and the playing of an instrument can be a real pleasure and extremely therapeutic - I recommend it to everyone.
