Webcam lessons

You can learn a musical instrument in your own home, or anywhere you have access to a computer, no matter where in the world you are! Unlike some on-line music lessons, I offer live, interactive, one to one lessons that are tailor-made for each individual student, not just pre-recorded, downloadable video 'lectures'!

Webcam lessons are easy to set up. It’s just like having a music teacher visit your home or wherever your computer is. All you need is a PC or Mac, broadband internet connection, a webcam and a Skype account, and a printer.

Skype - Download Skype and set up your username, password, and account. It is free of charge to download, use the service and create an account. It is a wonderful tool to use for lessons and can also be used to talk to anyone in the world for free!
You can download Skype here:

Webcam - You will need to purchase a webcam. There are many different types, so try and find one that will set up easily on a stand or your monitor. The average webcam costs about £30. You will need a webcam with a built-in microphone so I can hear you play. You will also need headphones so you can hear me.

Paypal payments - Webcam lesson are paid for in advance via Paypal. Paypal is a way to send money to someone via the web. You can find out about it here:

During webcam lessons you can:

  • see and hear me speaking and playing

  • be seen and heard speaking and playing

  • ask questions and get answers live

  • have a lesson without leaving your home, using your computer

  • take your lesson on your own instrument

  • get handouts and sheet music sent to your computer live during the lesson

Lesson rates for webcam lessons are listed on the lessons page. To book a lesson or series of lessons email or telephone to discuss the time slot for your first session. Any subsequent sessions will be booked at the end of the previous one.
