Guitar Camp Weekends in France
Grappay
Charpentier is
the perfect location for a relaxing and rewarding break.
Nestled in a beautiful rural area of North West France,
this 'longère' farmhouse is an wonderful setting in
which to learn to play or improve your skills. We are a
perfect base from which to explore the area - we want
the courses to get results but there is always time off
to enjoy the local cafes, restaurants and the lovely
local countryside. Our
groups are small in number, and we even offer one-to-one
weekends for those who want to kick start their
instrument playing. We
have self-catering gite
accommodation for up to 4 people so you can cook up a
storm, or visit the many reasonably priced places to eat
all around the area - the town of Gorron is just 2.5
kilometres away. We also welcome those who want to come
and join us on a 'tuition only' basis. There are
lots of Chambres D'Hôtes and friendly hotels within a
few kilometres of Grappay. The
Courses These
are designed for the absolute beginners of banjo or
guitar as well as those with some playing ability. Course elements
include:
- Tuning
- Fretboard knowledge
- Reading Tab and chord windows
- Right-hand rolls -
banjo
- Hammer-on, pull off, sliding
- banjo
- Playing with others
- Finger & Flat picking (plectrum)

- Basic accompaniment patterns

Each course is three
days long with a combination of one-to-one
tuition, practice time and group
sessions with individual weekends finely
structured to fit the combination of people who are
attending. We also have a great little recording studio
for anyone who wants to take away a recording of their
work for posterity.
The lessons and
sessions are held in our teaching studio but may drift
outside when the sunshine gets too tempting.

The
Gite has
spectacular views both front and back. There is a
fully equipped kitchen with fridge, microwave, oven and
full sized gas hob, showerroom/WC, two bedrooms and a
comfortable lounge with satellite TV.
Although
we don't offer meals within the price, we try to take a
friendly approach and are happy to eat meals together,
share cooking and the organic veg from our garden!
